Hello M. Sanderson, I'm a fairly new fan of yours, after reading a bunch of mistborns, I recently started the stormlight archive. However the books I have are indeed hardcover gollancz, but not like the one in this short. Do you know if it is planned to continue the SA with the no picture, glyphs only, 2 tomes per book, monochromatic and gold editions? That would be lovely if you do. Thanks from France 😊

the best thing that I have found from this is: Storm father says that Dalinar is better than what Gavilar gives him credit for. than Gavilar while dying asks storm father to give the words to Daliar which he denies and yet the words reach to Dalinar. Starlight Archive is truly amazing so far. Can't wait for more.

Adrian Tchaikovski would be somewhere in here but I guess he falls out due to being mainly a sci-fi author. As far as being prolific he is up there with Brandon and King.

"Said" is the worst thing ever in dialogue, especially with audio books. It's best overall if you don't have to use tags at all and after that it feels much better if the information about who is speaking and how comes before the dialogue, not after it. It makes no sense if the only way to know who is speaking what is after you read the line. It's the worst part about Brandon's Wheel of Time books, you can clearly feel and hear the change in authorship because the dialogue feels so much worse in the audio books precisely because it's a long list of "X said" "Y asked" "X answered" etc.

The fact that Brandon calls the Naming magic in The Name of the Wind "Poetry" and describes Kvothe as wanting to go to "poetry class" is really funny when you think about Kvothe's professed attitude toward poetry as an art form

I relate. My youngest brother struggled with mental illness. He passed away recently. I feel guilt for not being close enough to him. I have my own mental health issues as well. I'm trying to study as much as I can to both remember him, help others in his situation, and help myself.❤🫂

I don’t think this totally explains it, but there’s something in this idea. COVID, a string of bad movies, and some bad experiences with inconsiderate movie-goers totally killed my desire to go the cinema. It has to be *amazing* for me to go, if I’m going to have to put up with other people on their phones, talking out loud, or sitting in the seat I booked when I get there. It has just become an awful experience.

i think my favorite thing is how much Brandon always plugs The Dragonriders of Pern by anne mccaffrey. also i love how the top three powers are, all ones you'd get by having a Pernese Dragon. like...I don't need the powers I just need access to something that adores me and has powers. But how TF did no one talk about shapeshifting? its easily the #1 superpower to have, since it can let you have the experience of being pretty nearly anything.

I just started getting into Sanderson with Elantris. I’m about halfway through it and I’m really starting to get into it. I’m looking forward to starting Mistborn soon. It’s going to be hard to get caught up, but since the books are long they must take awhile to write too right. Right? (Jk I know how this guy operates)

As far as time travel goes I would say that as soon as you include time travel in your story it is now about time travel. Even if it never comes up again, you will always have why not just time travel as a background question weighing it down. Than again any story I write time travel is just going put you somewhere else entirely since everything else does not time travel with you. because you know if you take a bus down the street than walk back everybody on the bus is not magically back at the start, so why would going to 5 hours ago make the rest reality also be 5 hours ago.

Hey Brandon just wanted to say i just started reading mistborn as my first book from you and 5 chapters in and loving it and I hope I can read all your books and be caught up at some point haha KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

That 'sort of' time travel Brandon talks about gave me a random idea... What if you had a superpower that lets go to different dimension that's an exact copy of your own, but at any time you can release your power and you just return to the point you activated your power. Basically like a test environment used in IT, you can test your ideas, test out a specific choice and then return to try something else before you actually decide.

So he hasn’t started on the book that already sold us in the kickstarter?

The only thing I'm nostalgic for about food is the prices. I miss 5 cent wings.
